We are a nation and a world desperate for men and women of God to lead. Today you begin or continue that journey. As Joshua directed the people of Israel I also direct you, “Choose this day who you will serve.” As leaders in this modern world we can be tempted to follow the latest fad or chase after money, fame or power. Will you serve those idols or will you choose to serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

The theme of chapter 6 Dealing with External Opposition
Once we are careful to take care of our backyards and cleanse our own lives, those of our families and our churches. The enemy now has something to fear. Until that point he had no concerns. You were without power because the chains of sin and apathy were holding you down. With the shackles of sin you are unable to live in the power of the Holy Spirit. But we dealt with all of that. We are living a life that honors God, now we can impact our community.
This does not mean that our lives are suddenly easy. On the contrary, we have awakened our sleeping enemy, Satan.
How glorious it is when the body of Christ begins to live in unity of purpose and has constant thoughts of the kingdom of God! When we work in unity and with purity we are unstoppable. Society will begin to be impacted and the enemy will hear the whispers, then the rumblings and finally the storm of society suddenly shifting toward kingdom living. We must not be afraid of waking up the monster. He must come and rise up if we are to defeat him. In fact he is defeated already, but he does not seem to understand that his situation is dire. Rise up in confidence.
He will hear not because of clever Facebook or Twitter posts. He will not rise up because you came up with some great argument that he never encountered before. He will rise up because of the changed lives that he once held easily. Freedom comes to the captives and he is angry. The jails start to empty, addictions are case aside, families are restored and righteousness is being preached. Sin is addressed as sin.
Our enemy looks around for whom he might devour and notice you the leader and he will target you. His strategy is always the same, take out the leader and the followers will scatter. It is an age old strategy and it has been effective more times than not. Consider it an honor that he is focused on you.
This is personal! He is aiming for you man of God. He longs to take you out woman of faith. Do not be surprised. Do not be alarmed. Jesus has won the victory for us already. Our role is simply to stand. So today I call on you to do just that. Read these verses and mediate on them and apply them to your life today.
Ephesians 6:13 New International Version (NIV)
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Revelation 2:10 New International Version (NIV)
Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.
