We are a nation and a world desperate for men and women of God to lead. Today you begin or continue that journey. As Joshua directed the people of Israel I also direct you, “Choose this day who you will serve.” As leaders in this modern world we can be tempted to follow the latest fad or chase after money, fame or power. Will you serve those idols or will you choose to serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

The theme of chapter 12 Purity and Thanksgiving
Many within the church give lip service to purity; but to move toward purity needs to be deliberate and purposeful. We cannot do this on our own. We must spend time with the King and ask Him to purify us and make us whole. We desperately need His washing.
- Pray for purity
- Memorize purity verses
- Read your Bible daily
- Attend a church that teaches God’s Word and has high standards (not legalistic, just high standards)
Just like sin being contagious, purity and completeness can be caught and shared. Joy of holiness can cross over man made borders. The pure of heart will be able to send their message into the mosques and temples of the world of all faiths. What the world often finds unbelievable is a movement of so called Christians who live impure lives but demand others to forsake their faith. When the people of God rise up then walls will come down like they did at Jericho.
Leadership lesson: Do not simply stop after the project is done. Once the wall is built we must build systems to sustain the efforts. Yes stop and celebrate the victories. But immediately follow it up with taking the time to make sure that the wall is in good repair deep into the future.
Nehemiah 12:44 Key to success when establish systems: You must link the system to the traditions while at the same time reaching out for the new. Draw in the wisdom of the generations while also reaching out for the energy of the youth. Find a role for everyone. In the Kingdom efforts there can be no spectators.
Everyone must do their part for all for all of this to be successful. There are no small roles in the Kingdom.
From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Ephesians 4:16
