The Rise of the Spiritual Leader Volume 37

We are a nation and a world desperate for men and women of God to lead.  Today you begin or continue that journey.  As Joshua directed the people of Israel I also direct you, “Choose this day who you will serve.”  As leaders in this modern world we can be tempted to follow the latest fad or chase after money, fame or power.  Will you serve those idols or will you choose to serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

Read Nehemiah chapter 12

The theme of chapter 12 Purity and Thanksgiving

Do you really, honestly believe that salvation is an awesome and incredible thing in your life?  Do you celebrate that gift on a regular basis?  Not just at church, but also at work and home.  Is salvation something that you take for granted?  If church has become a check the box event for you it is time to examine yourself and fill yourself with thanksgiving.

Don’t keep this good news to yourself!  Invite others to join in the celebration.  Tell others about what the King has done for you.  If you were to meet one of your heroes would you keep that secret?  You would post it on your social media sites; your friends would get tired of your meeting with this hero.  It should be the same with Jesus.

Nehemiah 12:27-29

Today we must become focused on passing on the radical faith to the next generation.  As a leader, what is your plan, so that when you are no longer the lead dog that your organization continues to run with the values and character that you designed it to have.  I have often heard the older saints looking back but rarely do I see them project forward.

Take aim for talking up God’s house.  Celebrate His victories..  One of the less used gifts of God is the joy of celebration.  I do caution you to let it be God ordained.  Do not work to make this in man’s image.

Nehemiah 12:30

Purity begins at the top.  As a leader you must consistently examine yourself and strive to become a man or woman of Character.  Do not compare yourself simply to other people.  But instead, explore the Bible and ask God to show you where you need to learn and grow.  Let him shape you and call you out.  Do your eyes lust?  You just committed adultery.  Did you get mad and call your employee a name?  You just committed murder.  See to live purely in all matters.  There is a mind that spins the truth.  That is creative lying.  Seek to live in complete integrity.  The standard is high for the leader.  You must choose to rise.  It will not happen on its own.  It is not easy.  It will hurt.  It will be a struggle.  It will be worth it.  Live radically.
