The Rise of the Spiritual Leader Volume 22

We are a nation and a world desperate for men and women of God to lead.  Today you begin or continue that journey.  As Joshua directed the people of Israel I also direct you, “Choose this day who you will serve.”  As leaders in this modern world we can be tempted to follow the latest fad or chase after money, fame or power.  Will you serve those idols or will you choose to serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

Read Nehemiah chapter 6

The theme of chapter 6 Dealing with External Opposition

Spiritual attacks are the benchmark of success!

Most of the time when things go wrong it is good to examine some things.  First look at yourself.  Is there something that I am doing that is sinful or otherwise out of line with the will of God?   Make an honest evaluation. Being a leader means spending much time  evaluating our own motives and passions.  It is VERY easy to get distracted by a desire to be liked or greed or temptations of all types.  Evaluating our motives is first.

Examine if this might be God pushing you out of your comfort zone.  He pushed Abraham to the mountain with Isaac.  He can do the same with us .

Once you have done these examinations and evaluations and made any corrections then you might consider the third choice.  This is your enemy!  Satan came to steal, kill and destroy and he has painted a target on you.  Open your eyes and combat him.

Nehemiah 6:5-7

Here we see the enemy raise the ante.  The enemy is getting desperate.  Where taunts and words did not scare you off he will now threaten your very person and work to destroy you.  Know this, when this happens your victory is close.  Do not give up now.  Push through any fear and trust in God.

Nehemiah 6:8

Nehemiah does not blink.  He stands.  We must do the same.  Our wall must be built.  Our mission must be accomplished.  The lost must be found.  Those in bondage must be set free.

Ephesians 6:13 King James Version (KJV)

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Never surrender to the voice in your head that tells you to quit.  When you are doing God’s will that voice is not His.  Also know this.  He is rooting for you to succeed.  He designed you for this moment.  STAND!

Nehemiah 6:9

Nehemiah realizes an important ally in this fight.  God will help.  Do not try to fight Satan on your own.  You can not win apart from Christ.
