2 Peter 1:3-11New International Version (NIV)
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Build up your character until it is prepared fully for a very productive life. Each one of the fruits (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control) need to be built up ever more and more. We will not be able to reflect His glory if we are lacking in any of these fruits. When we live our lives exposing this fruit our world even in all its rebellion and wickedness will be drawn to Him. Be the man or woman of faith that even non-believers must respect. Regardless, grow in these things since Heaven awaits the faithful follower. The ultimate destination of our quest.
How do we produce this fruit? Spend time with Him. Moses began to reflect the Glory of God because of the time that he spent in His presence. Evaluate yourself regularly to see where you are coming up short. You might be doing well compared to the Al Capone’s of the world but if you want to live a life of holiness that requires us to stand our behaviors, thoughts and actions next to those of Jesus. Now how are you doing? Make adjustments where needed. Find fellowship with other believers who have a Kingdom world view. Seek Him in all circumstances and in small and large ways. He is active in our world but we tend not to notice.
