Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
This quest for holiness must be grasped firmly like a man holding to a rope on the side of a cliff. We live in a world that is often hostile to the man or woman of God. We are opposed from every direction. We must hold to our position when in defense and not give away an inch of ground. We must push forward in the attack. The kingdom is advancing we are driving the enemy. Yet he is still fierce. We can only defeat him if we are intentional in our dealings with him. You do not think of what is for dinner while battling the devil and expect victory. Our focus must be on victory.
As I awake I seek the presence of the King. My single desire is to please Him with my love. I might be despised or rejected by others but I live for Him. I examine His Word and listen for His direction. The battle is won because the warrior heard and understood the signal. That is my quest. That is what separates us from the rest of mankind. We are holy.
